We took a couple of days off our Reformation tour to stop and enjoy a beautiful part of Germany — the Eifel Mountains. We had heard it was a beautiful area, and of course the other attraction is that it is also the home of the Nurburgring, a 20km racing circuit, and also home to one of Germany’s grand prix tracks.
We stayed at the Ringvilla, a wonderful guest house in Adenau, it was a beautiful place to stay, right in the middle of the mountains and with fantastic room and delicious breakfasts. We were quite sad that we couldn’t stay longer when we had to leave.
During the days we explored the region, including a somewhat precarious journey on the dirt tracks in the forest around the Nurburgring (it’s ok, we didn’t get our hire car bogged thanks to Chris’ superior driving skills). We enjoyed exploring, going on some hikes and even had lunch one day at a castle! (the Kerpen Castle)
We managed to be around at the same time as a testing day on the Nurburgring (lots of car manufacturers take their new models there for testing), so Chris was able to get some great pics, very few of which are below.
